Trey White is a native Georgian whose parents were introduced to skiing in the 1960s by chance at Cataloochee Ski Area and soon found a passion for it. In 1967 they introduced their oldest son to the sport as Trey's mom had become an intructor and his Dad a National Ski Patrolman.   This began what is now a 50 passion for Snow Sports for Trey.

Karla White was born to a couple in New Hampshire who also had a passion for Snow Skiing.  Her family moved to the south however and other than a breif introduction to cross country skiing, Karla did not get to experience skiing  as the sport that she is so passionate about today.

Trey met Karla in 1998 after he had been working in a snow sports  program similar to the SSSS, for about 4 years.   That fall he took Karla to a local school campus and taught her some of her first fundamental skiing skills that  later that year she tried out for the first time at Cataloochee Ski Area.  That was almost 20 years ago and now almost a 16 year marraige.   Trey and Karla were married on Skis in Telluride Colorado at the start of the Winter Olympic Games of 2002. Trey and Karla are proud parents of 2 boys and a girl, all of which have all be on skiing since before they ever attended kindergarten.

The Southern School of Snow Sports was founded by Trey and Karla in 2007 after Trey had been working in a similiar program for 13 years.   Trey and Karla both are certified by the PSIA and Trey was also certified by the AASI.
